Parent Involvement
Chicago Public Schools’ proficiency rates in math and reading have plummeted from about 80% ten years ago to about 20% now. These rates are going from not good to absolutely horrible. These rates were dropping before the pandemic and they don’t look to be recovering.
If you discuss with the students who are doing well in school, then you will find that they have someone at home to work with them on their education. Because, whether you like it or not, that’s the actual key:
Parent Involvement.
Most private schools demand that The Parents Be Involved. At minimum, every parent needs to work directly with their child’s teacher to regularly discuss what is required to have that student become more than proficient in all aspects of their grade level.
There’s just not enough time for a teacher to have adequate one-on-one education with any student. That adequate one-on-one education has got to come from somewhere. Unless you want to pay for expensive one-on-one tutoring, this one-on-one education has got to come from someone at home.
Read to your child and/or have them read to you for about 20 minutes, every single day. Work on mathematics with your child for about 20 minutes, every single day. Practice adequate writing skills with your child for about 20 minutes, every single day. Review the homework that comes from school with your child, every single day. Discuss with your child’s teacher regarding extra-curricular activities to further enhance your child’s education beyond what they are normally receiving.
Knowledge is potential power. Education is key to a successful life.
Do You Want Your Child Growing Up to Be Successful?
Of course you do. Put in this absolutely critical requirement towards your child’s development and your child will reap the immense rewards; for the rest of their entire life!
Very Important:
Test and Filter Your Water Today
There are 400,000 lead waterlines in Chicago that Illinois has mandated to be unsafe and must be replaced. Meanwhile, the lead testing that we’ve been involved with has shown that every one of these lead waterlines are leeching various amounts of lead into our water. Lead accumulates inside human bodies, so there is no safe level of lead consumption. Lead accumulation has been shown to decrease IQ, increase heart disease, and increase the likelihood of criminal activity.
Thus, it’s very important to test your water for lead contamination.
Go to www.ChicagoWaterQuality.org to request a free test kit. Email us your results so that we can confidentially share with everyone what the area’s results are. So far we’ve been finding between 2-12 parts per billion (which is not good). Meanwhile, filter your drinking/cooking water and let’s replace these lead lines as soon as possible.
The Chicago Water and Sewer Project
Chicago currently utilizes a “Combination Sewer System” where both building sewage and rainwater are combined together. When local sections of this “Combination Sewer System” are overwhelmed by rainwater (cannot flow into “The Deep Tunnel” fast enough) then that mixed sewage-rain water backs up into the lowest drains of susceptible buildings causing major damage, heartache, and suffering.
Not all areas are prone to this backing up of water when it rains really hard. Yet, some areas regularly back up with just a few inches of rainfall. Either way, most every building uses the old 6” clay pipes that often require maintenance and/or very costly replacement/repairs.
Let’s install new (plastic) municipal sewer mains dedicated to receiving only wastewater from 4” PVC lateral sewers connected to Chicago’s residential buildings. Schedule-40 PVC is melted with primer when glued together for a solid connection that does not leak. Thus, we can (by Illinois State Code) install these 4” residential laterals in the same trench when also replacing lead water lines with k-copper. These PVC lines have also been shown to require no maintenance and seemingly last forever underground; saving lots of money in maintenance/replacement/repair costs.
We leave the current street sewer structures intact to continue to receive rainwater; which when it “overflows” into The Chicago River, it will only be rainwater, thus…
The Entire Chicago River will also be clear, clean, and safe for everyone and the environment to enjoy!
We can start small, installing new sewer and water lines of specific areas at a time, until every home has been updated. The beginning of this project can be funded federally. The homes that are updated can have a reasonable surcharge added to their monthly municipal water bill that will cover the costs of updating of the entire metropolitan area. So let’s get started.
The Wolfe Training
The Wolfe Training is about you exploring deep inside yourself, to recall your own unique passions, remember what you want to do, taking them on one at a time (easiest passions first), by creating a game plan, making promises, taking actions, returning every week to share your experiences with your group, completing tasks, taking on bigger passions, and living your own life to its absolute fullest. This is a volunteer program and no cost to join. We meet in small groups. Email us to schedule an introduction.
Politics
It’s critical that – The People Be Directly Involved – in all levels of government. The “powers that be” would prefer that we stay home, be distracted, and not realize that it’s to the degree that we abdicate our power to them that “they” get to maintain control over us.
Let’s work together, discuss various ideas, make agreements, and create a better world for everyone. The following are suggestions on what we can absolutely make happen. Let’s everyone share their ideas too. The more that we all Get Involved, the more that we all take responsibility, the more that we all have a say in what actually happens. Let’s create authentic community centers where The People of each community can freely discuss, create various projects, learn to cooperate, and make things happen. Until these community centers are realized, we can use currently available spaces like library meeting rooms, park district facilities, ward offices, churches, and people’s homes, where we can invite local representatives and other city officials to meetings, ask them questions, make requests, and announcements can be had. This is a great opportunity for The People to hold to account those who promised to be of service. Let’s have each one of us do our civic duty to volunteer on a local school council, non-profit organization, and/or run for political office. If everybody did just a few years in one of these capacities then The People would run everything. It’s important to Get Involved for only a term or two, while supporting others to regularly take over, keep the energy fresh, and new ideas flowing. Let’s ensure nutritious food and physical exercise in every school every day, allow school vouchers to pay for the private or public schools that parents choose for their children to attend, reinstate magnet/selective enrollment public schools, replace speed cameras with digital announcements of required speed in that particular area for that particular time, remove red light cameras that obstruct the safe flow of traffic, repair our schools and streets, no longer add weird chemicals like fluoride into the drinking water, ensure term limits, expand referendums, have the ability to recall local politicians, pay off our municipal debt, fully fund and recreate an authentic pension program, while reducing government budgets and our tax burden – For All.
The Nine Pillars
Powerful Individuals
-Be Kind; connect with love from within, versus endlessly searching for love outside of our selves.
-Be Lovingly Grateful for what we currently have and intend the best for our selves and each other.
-Be Easy, act when inspired, when it feels good.
-Reduce toxins and cleanse the body (temple) with best nutrition, pure water, pure thoughts, pure intentions, quiet the mind, light exercise, practice acceptance, patience, tranquility, and humility.
Powerful Families
-Be Kind; lovingly support each family member’s authentic needs, wants, perspectives, and desires.
-Teach children to read, write, and arithmetic, plus continued education – at home, every single day.
-Eat together, share experiences, home cooked healthy meals – at the dinner table, every single day.
Powerful Communities
-Be Kind; and in all ways – communicate honestly.
-Be Responsible; ensuring that all needs are authentically met from within the community by providing and exchanging products, services, and experiences to each other in a win-win manner.
Journalism Club
Imagine if every community had its own citizens as volunteer journalists, each contributing approximately one article, regarding something exciting going on in their community, every single month.
Imagine these citizen-reporters meeting every week to teach each other journalism skills, to discuss what each person is writing about, and voting on the order of finished articles to be featured in that week’s publication.
Would you like to have access to and actually read such a publication? Would you or somebody that you know, perhaps a high school student, be interested in participating in such a project?
